Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed has announced that the charge sheet in the case filed over the rape and murder of child Ramisa in Pallabi, Dhaka, will be submitted to the court today, Sunday.

During a briefing this afternoon, he stated that the charge sheet for Ramisa’s murder case is being submitted today. He expressed hope that the trial in the special court would conclude within the next 5 to 7 days. While acknowledging it is a matter for the court, the minister added that the government expects the court to ensure maximum punishment.

Meanwhile, the main accused in the case, Sohel Rana, and his wife Swapna Akter, have been produced before the court today.

Earlier, the CID handed over the DNA test report to the investigating officer. It is also learned that DNA, autopsy, and viscera reports were prepared on a priority basis.

The investigation team hopes that based on the specific information from the DNA report, it will be possible to identify the culprits. This can then be presented as strong evidence against the accused in court.

Last Tuesday, police recovered Ramisa’s body from a house in Pallabi. This incident sparked widespread reaction across the country. The main accused in the case, Sohel Rana, was arrested on May 20 from Narayanganj. He later gave a confessional statement under Section 164 in court.
