Nationwide, another seven children have died from measles and its complications in the past 24 hours. Additionally, 1,494 more children have been admitted to hospitals suffering from the disease and its associated symptoms.
This information was released in a press statement issued from the control room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Friday (May 8).
The DGHS statement indicated that one child died from confirmed measles in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of confirmed measles deaths to 58 between March 15 and May 8. Furthermore, six more children died due to suspected measles in the past 24 hours, with the total number of suspected measles deaths reaching 285 during the period from March 15 to May 8.
It was also reported that the number of suspected measles patients in the last 24 hours stood at 1,212, and the cumulative figure for suspected measles patients between March 15 and May 8 reached 46,710.
The number of confirmed measles patients in the last 24 hours was 282, while the total number of confirmed measles patients from March 15 to May 8 was 6,490.
Moreover, 32,862 children were admitted to hospitals with suspected measles between March 15 and May 8. In the same period, 29,152 children were discharged from hospitals after recovery.
